Challenging
Days.

Well
there’s just no denying the fact that some homeschool days are less
than perfect. Some days just don’t go the way we planned, do they?
I
remember one day looking at the clock and realizing that it was 2pm,
and there was no way that we were going to get started that day. So
I gave up, and went to have a shower and change out of my pyjamas.
Yes, I had not even managed to
get dressed yet. It was one of those days!
get dressed yet. It was one of those days!
Raising
children can be a rocky journey. In between the cuddles and giggles
and sloppy kisses, there will be the tears and tantrums and
projectile vomits. It just comes with the territory of having
children and raising them. It will never be plain sailing. There
are bound to be the challenging times.
The
same applies to homeschool. Some days there are interruptions,
frustrations, tears and tensions. The maths don’t add up, the
musical instruments scratch on your nerves, the science experiment
doesn’t work and then the internet connection goes down!
A
friend of mine said once that if they were not sitting down to
homeschool by ten o’clock in the morning – she gave up. If it
hadn’t happened by ten o’clock, it was never going to happen.
My
advice is to let the bad days go – sometimes you or your children
are just not in the mood for lessons, or creativity, or anything
really. It might be a sign that it’s time for something new and
different – a day at the beach, or out in nature, or at a friend’s
house, or the art gallery – or maybe just back in bed reading books
together. Challenging days are ultimately (hopefully) few and far
between.
How
do you cope with the challenging days?
